Description
Also known as the Prayer Plant, this is a member of the genus native to the tropics of the Americas. It gets its name from the nastic movement of its leaves they stay flat during the daytime and fold up like praying hands at night time. The Maranta Leuconera has some of the vivid, eye-catching, and beautiful leaves among houseplants. This particular variety has red veins in a herringbone style crossing the bright green leaves with lighter shades in the center and on the underside.
Tips
They do best in temperatures of 70-80 degrees Fahrenheit and have very particular requirements for their waterings – the soil must be moist at all times but not overly soggy, this helps avoid fungal diseases and root rot.
