White Bird Of Paradise – Medium

Your Bird of Paradise will thrive in a spot with bright direct light, but it can do fine even in medium light and low indirect light.

During watering sessions, make sure to water it well but not let it be soggy from spring until fall. In winter, you should let the top couple of inches to dry out between watering sessions. The plant should not be overwatered and water left to accumulate as this can lead to ‘wet feet’ and consequently, root rot. If you’re unsure about how much to water your plant, it is better to let it dry a bit instead of watering it too much.

Bird of Paradise plants can do well in regular household humidity but like to get a small boost from time to time. Use a humidifier or pebble tray to increase the humidity around your plant; regular misting is also helpful as it also helps remove the dust from the shiny leaves, in addition to increasing humidity.

Bird of Paradise plants do best between average household temperatures of 65-80 degrees Fahrenheit. B.O.P.s (Bird of Paradise) complete most of their growth in warmer temperatures, and their growth slows down during the colder winter.

Birds of Paradise need fertilizer every month during spring and summer because of their fast rate of growth; any general liquid feed is suitable. Fertilizer is not needed in winter as plant growth slows down due to cooler temperatures.

The leaves are toxic and can negatively affect both humans and animals (if consumed). Consumption can lead to mild irritation in the stomach and mouth.

Bird of Paradise plants don’t like salts in their water, so ensure you are using filtered water free of any dissolved salts, minerals, chlorine, and fluoride. If the leaves of the plant are turning brown, it could be because of the quality of the water used. If you are unable to use a filtering system, let the tap water sit out uncovered overnight and let some of the chlorine and fluoride dissipate and evaporate.
