Description

Native to Africa and southern Asia, these succulents are known for their upright leaves. They require little care and easily live for generations. They require well-drained soil and need to be watered only once every few weeks. Sansevierias grow best in bright indirect light and look great as statement pieces on tables, shelves or any other such surfaces. The Laurentii variety is known for its vertical, sword-like yellowish leaves that help it stand out in modern and contemporary architectural structures and interior design.

Tips

Plant Facts

Lighting Requirements

Your Sansevieria will thrive in a spot with moderate to bright indirect light; although it can tolerate less light and full sunlight as well.

Watering Needs

The Sansevieria does not need much water – in fact overwatering can result in root rot. Make sure to not splash the leaves while watering and let the soil dry out between watering sessions. During winter, water the plant only once a month as it is dormant then.

Humidity

Your Sansevieria will do just fine in a regular household environment and does not need any extra humidity.

Temperature Preferences

They are fine between 55-85 degrees Fahrenheit, however, they thrive in warmer temperatures.

Fertilizer

Feed it twice a year with a general houseplant fertilizer.

Pet-Friendly

Sansevieria plants are slightly toxic to pets and humans. Consumption can cause mouth and stomach irritation, along with possible nausea and vomiting
